@Joyce Pollack-Nelson:

#1: How many lives have been saved by having a law against Driving while Intoxicated? Now compare that answer with the ripple effect of how many have been destroyed BY the laws? Point being; I do not believe that punishment after the fact has ever brought back a life or prevented one life from being extinguished. (If you have proof to the contrary feel free to share it with me here.)
However, I know of many people who have never harmed anyone, or anyone's property in any way shape or form-but they have been financially and socially destroyed by the unlawful action of being arrested for drunk driving. I know people who have lost their employment, not been able to provide any longer for their families, went to jail, been physically threatened and also beaten by the police. While again they had not harmed anyone. They were preemptively (Before ever committing a criminal act) arrested and I might add, may have never harmed anyone in the future even if they had not been arrested.

DUI laws assume that every person who drives after drinking is a danger to society. That is not true and has never been proven to be true. The amount of lives destroyed by the laws since they have went into effect, now that is quantifiable! It is irresponsible and highly immoral to charge a person with a crime that they have never committed. How can anyone feel justified for judging a person for a crime they have never committed? Driving after drinking and making it safely home is not a crime. It only becomes a crime if another person or persons property is damaged in any way. I would like to say that I think bad drivers should not be able to drive. I have seen many terrible drivers cause some extremely serious accidents but they are allowed their freedom still. I would rather drive with my mother while she is three sheets to the wind, then ride in a car with my older sister any day of the year! My mother drunk is a better driver than most people I know when they are sober. Her reaction time and her judgement is much better than most peoples. So just because they have done tests on individuals before and after drinking means nothing to me. When they start doing a test that can tell which people are capable of driving safely at all, then we can talk.

This post kind of blows my mind. You seem to be overlooking the most obvious point. Even a ''good'' prosecutor is duty bound to try their hardest to convict a man THEY KNOW to be innocent, simply to advance their careers, to "win". A defense attorney will work his ass off to let a child killer back on the street, even if HE KNOWS FOR A FACT, that the man is guilty. Why? Because the the guilter his client is the greater his victory. Lawyers are universally loathed because theirs is the ONLY proffession that completely revolves around distoring language in order to decieve and manipulate people in to doing terrible things. Casey Anthony is guilty. How do we know this? Because her child was missing for 31 days before she reported it! Dump all the 'evidence' in the water and convict her on that fact alone. The truth is that LAW does not equal JUSTICE and very often the two concepts are mutually exclusive. Lawyers will in every case choose the "rule of law" as a nasty little buzzword to put rapists and child killers back on the street and then celebrate with champagne the big bucks that come as a result. They are less honest and more destructive then the gangsters and kingpins they represent. Far from being guardians of justice they are the purveyors of injustice and the facilitating agents of sufferings and death. They are parasitic devils who profit from their evil, and then they hide behind distorted lies and half-truths to conceal their bestial natures. Sociopathic scum like Casey Anthony are monsters, but the Defense Attorney's like Jose Baez who deliberately released a child killer back on to the street for personal gain is truly evil. That kind of black malice in somebody's soul rivals anything the Third Reich could have done. Lawyers are despised because they constructed this system. Because most politicians were lawyers first. Because a vast majority of the evil in our society can ultimately be attributed to these fiends. They are the enemy of every truly ethical person on this planet.

"Getting away with it"?
It is common sense not to drink and drive.
Those who do drive while drinking endanger others lives.
It os beyond the twisting and turning of the law.
We all know that there is a definare need for these laws.
Why examine a just and fair law against laws made 100's of years ago for a different purpose. If we look at the very old laws, they mean
what was needed for that time in history. I do not think these laws were meant for today.
I so hope that these drinking and driving meanaces are kept OFF the road!
